It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of Empordà wine while soaking up the scenery. They have an extensive wine list, featuring both local and international varieties, and the staff are knowledgeable and passionate about their wines. I recommend trying their selection of local cheeses to pair with your chosen vintage.
Another wine bar with a view is La Terrassa de l’Hotel Nord 1901. This rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the city, including the Girona Cathedral and the Eiffel Bridge. It’s a great place to relax with a glass of wine after a day of exploring the city. They have a smaller, but carefully curated wine list, focusing on local producers. Their tapas menu is also worth exploring, with dishes like patatas bravas and grilled octopus that perfectly complement the wines.
Hidden Gems and Local Favourites
While the wine bars with a view are certainly impressive, some of Girona’s best wine experiences can be found in its hidden gems. El Secret del Vi is one such place. Tucked away in a quiet alleyway in the old town, this cosy wine bar has a rustic charm and a relaxed atmosphere. The owner is a passionate wine enthusiast who is always happy to share his knowledge and recommendations. They have a fantastic selection of local wines, including some lesser-known varieties that you won’t find in the more touristy establishments.
Another hidden gem is Vins i Licors Grau. This family-run wine shop and bar has been a Girona institution for over 50 years. They have a vast selection of wines, from everyday drinking to special occasion bottles. You can also sample wines by the glass, and they have a small selection of tapas available. It’s a great place to discover new wines and chat with the friendly staff.

It’s a truly special experience, but it comes with a hefty price tag.
If you’re looking for a more affordable wine tasting option, consider visiting a local winery. There are several wineries located within easy reach of Girona, such as Mas Oller and Clos d’Agon. Many of them offer tours and tastings, giving you the opportunity to learn about the winemaking process and sample their wines in a beautiful setting. I recently visited Mas Oller, and I was impressed by their commitment to sustainable winemaking practices. Their wines are delicious, and the views from the vineyard are stunning.
